This year's event will mark the first time that the team's draft party will take place at Canadian Tire Centre, where fans will have the opportunity to watch the NHL Draft, live from Dallas, in the comfort of the venue's theatre setup and on its Bell HD video screen while having access to special food and beverage concessions.
Set to run from 6 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. (with the television broadcast of the draft commencing at 7:30 p.m.), the night will be hosted by Senators colour analyst Gord Wilson in addition to Senators players past and present who will reflect on their personal draft memories while interacting with fans.
The evening will also include visits by Spartacat, the Senators' ambassador of fun, and the Sens Street Team whose members will help guests enjoy various activations (including a junior Draft photo opportunity and a virtual reality experience), inflatables and interactive games. The first 500 guests in attendance will also receive a 2018 Senators Draft puck.
Senators radio broadcast partner TSN 1200 be live on location at Canadian Tire Centre from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. with special detailed coverage of the 2018 NHL Draft.
In addition to the fourth selection in the first round of this year's draft, Ottawa also holds the 22nd overall selection as part of a trade with the Pittsburgh Penguins last February. Since the Senators first participated in the draft in 1992, 211 players have been selected by the team - 104 of whom have played at least one game for Ottawa.
