The Set-up
Ottawa (3-12-1) grabbed its third win of the season Saturday afternoon in Winnipeg in dramatic fashion thanks to Brady Tkachuk's tip in with 8.2 seconds left in regulation.
Toronto (11-3-1) were beaten by Montreal 2-1 Saturday night but sit in first place in the North Division, holding a three point cushion over the Canadiens.
Tonight's contest sees the third best power play in the NHL go against a Sens penalty kill that is finding its form. Toronto convert on 34.1 per cent of their man advantages while throughout the month of February, the Senators have conceded just two power play goals in 17 attempts.
The Maple Leafs have won six of their eight home games this season while the Sens have more road wins (2) than home wins (1) this season.
Roster notes
No confirmation from Senators head coach D.J. Smith on whether Matt Murray will start tonight against Toronto after he was unavailable Saturday due to injury. Joey Daccord will backup tonight for the Senators, regardless.
"He'll get pushed hard here this morning afterwards and we'll see where he's at," Smith said of Murray.
Furthermore, the Sens appear to be unchanged from Saturday's win based on the lines in the team's morning skate:
Tkachuk - Tierney - C. Brown
Paul - White - Dadonov
Stützle - Stepan - Batherson
Anisimov - Norris - Watson
Chabot - Zaitsev
Reilly - Zub
Wolanin - Gudbranson
Previous history
Tonight is the first time since Jan. 16 the Sens and Maple Leafs meet. The two teams split a two-game series earlier in the season with the Senators winning its season-opener Jan. 15 before losing the following night.
Ottawa is 29-26-5 (two ties) all-time in Toronto.
Who to watch
Evgenii Dadonov has goals in three of his last four games for the Senators while his four goals this season are tied for the most on the team alongside Tkachuk and Tim Stützle.
Dadnonov's 11.8 shooting percentage is the fourth best on the team while his 17:02 a night is the third highest average for all Sens forwards.
Where to Watch
Monday's game can be seen live on TSN5 and RDS at 7 p.m. Fans can also tune into the radio call on TSN 1200 and Unique FM 94.5.
