Rasmus Dahlin has been selected to the NHL All-Star Game, the league announced Thursday.
Dahlin will represent the Buffalo Sabres in place of Tage Thompson, who did not play the third period against Carolina on Wednesday due to an upper-body injury. Dahlin will be playing in his second career All-Star Game, having made the event for the first time last season.
The All-Star Skills competition begins at 7 p.m. Friday on ESPN and ESPN+. The 3-on-3 All-Star Game begins Saturday at 3 p.m. on ABC and ESPN+.

Dahlin ranks second among defensemen in goals (14) and points (55) this season, both of which are career highs. He is on pace for 90 points, which would break the Sabres current franchise record for a defenseman (81 by Phil Housley in 1989-90).
The 22-year-old ranks third in the NHL in average ice time (26:07).
Dahlin is the lone defenseman on the Atlantic Division, joining forwards David Pastrnak, Dylan Larkin, Aleksandr Barkov, Matthew Tkachuk, Nick Suzuki, Brady Tkachuk, Nikita Kucherov, and Mitch Marner along with goaltenders Linus Ullmark and Andrei Vasilevskiy. (Auston Matthews was selected but will not participate due to injury.)
