WSH BOS 9.16 recap preseason

Danton Heinen scored on the first attempt in the shootout to give a Boston Bruins split squad a 2-1 win against the Washington Capitals at TD Garden in the opener of the domestic portion of their preseason schedule.

The rest of the Bruins are taking part in the O.R.G. NHL China Games. They will play the Calgary Flames in Beijing on Wednesday (7:30 a.m. ET; NBCSN, SN).
