The blizzard of signings on Day 1 of this offseason's NHL Free Agency period subsided to scattered flurries by this past weekend. There are some solid players still at large.
Let's drop the WaFd Bank Weekly Warmup puck for the latest free-agent "whether (to sign or not) report."

Notables Under Contract since Day 1

Kraken GM took a lead role in the first day of free agency, signing goalie Philipp Grubauer (surprise!) and forwards Jaden Schwartz and Alexander Wennberg. Another 160 contracts were inked July 28 for a committed total of $785 million.
Since last Wednesday signing spree, here's a look at most notable players signed:

Paydays for Young Defensemen

The aforementioned Zach Werenski (24 years old, $9.58M AAV) and Seth Jones (26, $9.5M AAV) signings represented two of five jumbo contracts for young defenseman in the last week. Colorado's Cale Makar, 22, agreed to six years at $54 million total and a $9 million cap hit-and lots of media members considered it a bargain.
Another 22-year-old, Dallas star D-man Miro Heiskanen, cashed in for eight years, $67.6 million and a $8.45 million cap hit. In the most-anticipated deal of Day 1 (though few saw the New Jersey Devils as the team), 28-year-old defenseman joined NJD for seven years at $63 million and a $9 million AAV.
