Connor Carrick scored on the power play 57 seconds into the second period, and Martin Marincin (15:46) and Andreas Borgman (17:25) also scored when the Maple Leafs took a 3-2 lead. Andreas Johnsson scored a power-play goal 1:22 into the third period to make it 4-2. The Canadiens took a 2-0 lead in the first period on goals by Jonathan Drouin at 5:09 and Andrew Shaw on the power play at 18:00. Curtis McElhinney made 29 saves for the Maple Leafs, and Carey Price made 24 for the Canadiens. The Canadiens have lost their first six preseason games. They have two remaining.
