PWHL expansion team jerseys

The PWHL just got a whole lot more colorful.

The league unveiled the inaugural jerseys of their four expansion teams, Detroit, Hamilton, Las Vegas and San Jose, on Thursday.

All four jerseys follow the league’s tradition of the team’s city name stitched diagonally down the front of the sweaters for the inaugural season.

Team nicknames and logos of all four expansion teams will also be announced before the 2026-27 season.

PWHL Detroit will wear black home jerseys and white away jerseys that feature white, silver and red accents. The three colors are in nod to the city’s “313” area code and the red is in nod to the city’s “Hockeytown” history.

The Detroit Red Wings posted a video of the players reacting to the sweaters, which passed the test with flying colors.

PWHL Hamilton’s sweaters feature gold, deep red, burnt orange, and a cream color palette inspired by CFL’s Hamilton Tiger-Cats and the former OHL’s Hamilton Bulldogs and NHL’s Hamilton Tigers uniforms.

PWHL Las Vegas went with green, gold and navy color combinations representing Nevada’s nature. The team will wear green home jerseys and white away jerseys.

PWHL San Jose’s mandarin orange and sky blue colors were inspired by the city’s flag and the area’s orange groves. The team will wear mandarin orange sweaters for home games and white sweaters for away games.

The PWHL will drop the puck on their fourth season the weekend of Dec. 5-6 when all 12 teams will be in action.

PWHL Hamilton will face off against reigning Walter Cup champions, Montreal Victoire, Saturday, Dec. 5 (7 p.m. ET) at Place Bell in Montreal. PWHL San Jose will play the Minnesota Frost also on Dec. 5 (7 p.m. ET) at SAP Center in San Jose.

PWHL Detroit and PWHL Las Vegas play each other on Sunday, Dec. 6 (8 p.m. ET) at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
