PIT@WSH: Ovechkin's kids introduce him before matchup with Penguins

The Great Eight doesn’t need any introduction, but he got the best one from his biggest fans on Tuesday.

Alex Ovechkin's sons, Sergei and Ilya, introduced their dad before his final home opener at Capital One Arena.

The boys stepped up to the microphone rocking their dad’s Capitals jersey.

“Your captain, number eight, Alexander Ovechkin,” the brothers announced in unison.

Ovechkin patted his sons on the back before skating on the ice and saluting the roaring crowd as they broke out in “Ovi” chants.

On Monday, the Capitals captain announced to his teammates his 22nd season would be his last in the NHL.

A video of the moment was shared by the team on social media.

Ovechkin was drafted by the Capitals with the No. 1 pick in the 2004 NHL Draft. His 929 career goals are the most in NHL history. He helped the Capitals to their first Stanley Cup championship in 2018.

In his 22 NHL seasons, Ovechkin has won the Art Ross Trophy as the NHL points leader once (2007-08), the Hart Trophy as the League MVP three times (2007-08, 2008-09, 2012-13) and the Rocket Richard Trophy as the top goal scorer nine times (2007-08, 2008-09, 2012-13, 2013-14, 2014-15, 2015-16, 2017-18, 2018-19, 2019-20).
