Welcome to the NHL On Tap. Three NHL.com writers will share what they are most looking forward to on the schedule each day. Today, their choices from the six games Wednesday.

Flyers, Rangers and a Garden rematch

If the second game in three days between the Philadelphia Flyers and New York Rangers at Madison Square Garden (7:30 p.m. ET; NBCSN) is anything like the first, then be prepared for some good old-fashioned fun, up and down the ice hockey. The Flyers defeated the Rangers 5-4 in overtime on forward Jakub Voracek's breakaway goal in overtime Monday, after Philadelphia built a 2-0 lead early in the first period but had to come back from down 3-2 late in the second and 4-3 early in the third. The Flyers have scored at least one power-play goal in four straight games and they're 7-for-24 (29.2 percent) in their past seven after going 3-for-30 (10.0 percent) in their previous seven from Feb. 7-March 2. Goalie Alexandar Georgiev will start for New York, a chance for redemption after he was pulled from his previous two starts, allowing a combined seven goals on 20 shots. It'll be another challenge for Georgiev and the Rangers, who need to start winning these games in regulation to get back into the Stanley Cup Playoff race in the MassMutual East Division. They're sixth in the eight-team division, five points behind the fifth-place Flyers, who have a game in hand. The top four teams in each division qualify for the playoffs. -- Dan Rosen, senior writer

Artistry no matter to streaking Stone

Vegas Golden Knights forward Mark Stone described his team's 2-1 win against the San Jose Sharks on Monday as being something less than a masterpiece. "Wasn't a Picasso" is how he put it. The red-hot forward won't care whether Vegas gets it done at home against the Sharks with a fine-tipped brush or a can of spray paint (10 p.m. ET; ATTSN-RM, NBCSCA, NHL.TV). Fourteen points separate the Honda West Division-leading Golden Knights and the seventh-place Sharks. Stone is riding an eight-game personal point streak (six goals, 10 assists) and forward Max Pacioretty has scored six points (two goals, four assists) in his past three games (two goals, four assists) for Vegas, looking to improve to 12-2-1 on home ice. Workhorse goalie Marc-Andre Fleury quietly is three wins from tying Ed Belfour (484) for fourth in NHL history and eight behind Roberto Luongo for third (489). The Sharks are 0-3-1 against the Golden Knights this season, having been outscored 14-6. -- Dave Stubbs, columnist

Battle of Alberta tightening

The Edmonton Oilers visit the Calgary Flames for Game 6 of their 10-game regular-season series (10 p.m. ET; NBCSN, TVAS, SN, NHL.TV) and things are getting tighter after Calgary's 4-3 home win Monday. Edmonton (18-13-0) has won three of the first five games against its provincial rival, but its lead over Calgary (14-12-3) in the Scotia North Division was reduced to five points with the Flames having played two fewer games. Calgary, fifth in the seven-team division, has won its first three games under new coach Darryl Sutter. The Oilers, tied for second with the Winnipeg Jets, have lost two straight after a four-game winning streak, though forwards Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl, first and second in the NHL scoring race, remain hot. McDavid (53 points; 17 goals, 36 assists), has scored 13 points (three goals, 10 assists) in a six-game point streak and Draisaitl (46 points; 17 goals, 29 assists) has scored 12 points (seven goals, five assists) in a seven-game point streak and seven goals in his past five games, with at least one goal in each. -- Tim Campbell, staff writer
