"We obviously don't want to be coming back in too many of these games," Benn said, "but I like the way we're finding ways to stick with it."
It was the second consecutive game the Stars scored late in the third period to reach overtime. Mattias Janmark scored with four seconds left in the third of a 5-4 overtime loss to the Tampa Bay Lightning on Thursday.
Stars coach Ken Hitchcock said he recently told Benn not to be discouraged by his goal drought.
"This is four out of the last five games he's played really, really well," Hitchcock said. "He's dialed in, and he's playing hard. He's playing physical. He's getting into the scoring areas."
The Blues are 1-6-2 in their past nine games and have allowed at least four goals in five of the losses. They have scored a total of 14 goals in the nine games.
"I feel like a lot of times we go into a shell and we just sort of hope to hang on in these situations where that's not the right way to do it," Blues coach Mike Yeo said. "You've got to keep defending, but you've got to do it aggressively. We need more of a killer instinct."
Pitlick scored at 7:04 of the second period on a breakaway to give Dallas a 1-0 lead.
Barbashev tied the game 1-1 at 13:06 of the second, scoring on the rebound of a long slap shot by Vince Dunn.
