Rangers blow lead against Devils, win in OT

Vinni Lettieri scored at 3:53 of overtime to give the New York Rangers a 4-3 win against the New Jersey Devils at Madison Square Garden.
Steven Fogarty, Timothy Gettinger and Chris Kreider also scored for New York, and Neal Pionk had two assists. Henrik Lundqvist made 14 saves on 15 shots in 39:54, and Marek Mazanec allowed two goals on 11 shots in relief.
Kyle Palmieri had a goal and two assists, and Nico Hischier and Taylor Hall scored 2:57 apart in the third period for New Jersey to tie the game 3-3.
Devils goalie Eddie Lack made 35 saves.
Rangers forward Matt Beleskey injured his shoulder in the first period, and New York forward Jesper Fast did not play after the second for precautionary reasons.

Bruins hang on to defeat Flyers

The Boston Bruins scored the first four goals of the game and held on for a 4-3 victory against the Philadelphia Flyers at Wells Fargo Center.
Dale Weise, Claude Giroux and Travis Konecny scored for the Flyers in a 2:44 span in the third period, but Bruins goalie Dan Vladar made three of his 34 saves the rest of the way to preserve the one-goal lead.
Weise started the Flyers rally with a shorthanded goal at 8:43, Giroux made it 4-2 on the power play at 10:25, and Konecny scored at 11:27.
Peter Cehlarik (4:14) and Brandon Carlo (9:31) gave the Bruins a 2-0 lead in the first period. Chris Wagner scored shorthanded at 12:37 of the second, and
Lee Stempniak
made it 4-0 at 2:05 of the third.
Flyers goalie Brian Elliott made 24 saves.

Lehkonen, Ouellet shoot Canadiens past Maple Leafs

Artturi Lehkonen and Xavier Ouellet each scored two goals for the Montreal Canadiens in a 5-1 win against the Toronto Maple Leafs at Scotiabank Arena.
Charles Hudon also scored for Montreal, and Antti Niemi made 29 saves.
Kasperi Kapanen scored for Toronto, which went 0-for-4 on the power play. Garret Sparks allowed five goals on 36 shots.

Benn scores twice to lift Stars past Wild

Jamie Benn broke a tie with his second goal of the game at 11:50 of the third period to help the Dallas Stars to a 5-3 win against the Minnesota Wild at American Airlines Center.
Roope Hintz
and Esa Lindell each had a goal and an assist, and Blake Comeau also scored for Dallas. Anton Khudobin made 26 saves.
Matt Read, Joel Eriksson Ek and Kyle Rau scored for Minnesota. Devan Dubnyk allowed five goals on 36 shots.

Toffoli scores twice for Kings in win against Canucks

Tyler Toffoli scored two goals for the Los Angeles Kings in a 4-1 win against the Vancouver Canucks at Vivint Smart Home Arena in Salt Lake City.
Anze Kopitar and Dion Phaneuf also scored for the Kings, who got 14 saves from Jonathan Quick. Michael Amadio had two assists.
Sam Gagner scored for the Canucks, who got 18 saves from Jacob Markstrom.
After Gagner tied it 1-1 at 1:02 of the second period, Toffoli gave the Kings a 2-1 lead at 5:04 with his second goal. Kopitar (3:15) and Phaneuf (3:57) scored 42 seconds apart in the third period to push it to the 4-1 final score.
Each team was 0-for-5 on the power play.

Steel, Fowler help Ducks defeat Coyotes

Sam Steel and Cam Fowler scored in the second period to help the Anaheim Ducks to a 4-2 win against the Arizona Coyotes at Honda Center.
Carter Rowney and Max Comtois also scored, and John Gibson made 29 saves for the Ducks.
Richard Panik and Brendan Perlini scored for the Coyotes, who went 2-for-3 on the power play. Darcy Kuemper made 24 saves.
Anaheim outshot Arizona 16-7 in the second period but was outshot 18-2 in the third.
Ducks coach Randy Carlyle said after the game that forward Corey Perry was under evaluation after being removed from the lineup after warmups. No further information was given.

Kosmachuk scores winning goal for Avalanche against Golden Knights

The Colorado Avalanche held on for a 5-3 win against the Vegas Golden Knights at T-Mobile Arena.
After Scott Kosmachuk gave Colorado a 4-1 lead at 4:36 of the third period, Vegas got within 4-3 after Jake Bischoff scored at 5:58 and Brad Hunt scored on the power play at 10:19.
Vladislav Kamenev scored into an empty net with 1:05 remaining to make it 5-3.
J.T. Compher, Carl Soderberg and Sheldon Dries scored for the Avalanche.
Max Pacioretty scored his third goal of the preseason for the Golden Knights.
Pavel Francouz made 29 saves for Colorado, and Malcolm Subban made 23 for Vegas.
