Oilers-Jets rematch

How do you top an intense Scotia North Division game decided on a buzzer-beating third-period goal? That's what the Edmonton Oilers and Winnipeg Jets will try to do Tuesday (8 p.m. ET; TSN3, SNW, NHL.TV) in their second straight game at Bell MTS Place. The Oilers won 4-3 Sunday when forward Leon Draisaitl scored with less than a second left in the game. Draisaitl, who led the NHL with 110 points (43 goals, 67 assists) in 71 games last season, has scored in three straight games. Jets center Adam Lowry also looks to stay hot and extend his four-game point streak (three goals, one assist). Winnipeg will try to get back in the win column after its first home loss since Feb. 16, 2020; Edmonton looks to win consecutive games for the first time this season. -- William Douglas, staff writer

Pietrangelo to face old friends

Alex Pietrangelo knows it will be an emotional game when the Vegas Golden Knights play the St. Louis Blues at T-Mobile Arena on Tuesday (9 p.m. ET; ESPN+, ATTSN-RM, FS-MW, NHL.TV). Pietrangelo played his first 12 NHL seasons with the Blues, was their captain for four seasons and helped them win the Stanley Cup in 2019. That run ended when he signed a seven-year contract with the Golden Knights on Oct. 12. How will he handle playing against some of the same players he helped win a championship with? That remains to be seen, but Vegas will need Pietrangelo to continue his solid start. He has scored three points (one goal, two assists) and leads the Golden Knights with an average ice time of 25:04 in six games, helping them to first place in the Honda West Division with 10 points (5-1-0). -- Adam Kimelman, deputy managing editor

Suter ready for encore

What do you do after making history? We'll see Tuesday when forward Pius Suter and the Chicago Blackhawks play the Nashville Predators at Bridgestone Arena (8 p.m. ET; FS-TN, NBCSCH, NHL.TV). On Sunday, in his sixth NHL game, Suter scored a hat trick in a 6-2 win against the Detroit Red Wings, making him the second player in Blackhawks history to score each of his first three NHL goals in a single game (Bill Kendall, Dec. 17, 1933). Suter also is the second Blackhawks player to score his first NHL hat trick in six games or fewer, joining Art Somers (in his fourth game, Nov. 21, 1929). The 24-year-old was voted the most valuable player in National League, Switzerland's top professional league, last season and the Blackhawks signed him to a one-year contract July 16.
