Rangers celebrate Lundqvist's tenure with touching video montage

Team bought out final year of leader in all-time goalie wins' contract on Wednesday

era in New York City is over, and his now-former team helped his legion of fans say thanks for all he did.

The New York Rangers shared a highlight montage of their longtime goalie's most memorable moments after they bought out the final year of his contract Wednesday.

The video chronicled the Rangers all-time wins leader's litany of accomplishments from 15 seasons in New York, including his first NHL win and most famous saves.
It also noted his charitable work, which twice earned him the Steven McDonald Extra Effort Award, annually given by the Rangers to the player who goes above and beyond the call of duty.
The Garden of Dreams Foundation, through which the Rangers do much of their charitable work, applauded Lundqvist's efforts in the community during his tenure with the Rangers.

Roger Federer, the tennis star and friend of Lundqvist's, also saluted him.

Lundqvist thanked the Rangers organization and fans for their love and support throughout his tenure with several posts on social media.
"THANK YOU FOR EVERYTHING!," Lundqvist posted to his Twitter and Instagram. "15 years ago, I played my first game for @NYRangers I came here with high hopes and big dreams but in my wildest imagination, I could never have pictured the amazing ride that lay ahead.
"Representing this organization has been the biggest source of pride and joy in my life. I'm so grateful for the opportunity, for the friendships and for all the great memories created wearing the red, white and blue. I will always cherish my time as a Ranger. From the bottom of my heart, thank you!"
