NSH@DET: Granlund nets game-tying PPG

DETROIT -- Mikael Granlund scored with 3:58 left in the third period, and the Nashville Predators rallied for a 3-2 shootout win against the Detroit Red Wings at Little Caesars Arena on Tuesday.

Granlund tied it 2-2 on a rebound for a power-play goal.
"We didn't have our best game in the first period, but we started getting our game together in the second and just kept going in the third," Granlund said. "We keep finding ways to win these games."
Roman Josi had two assists for the Predators (21-18-1), who have won 10 of 12. Juuse Saros made 25 saves.
"It was a tough game to play, and I thought the Red Wings outplayed us in the first period," Nashville coach John Hynes said. "I really liked the way we stayed with it and warmed to the task."
Thomas Greiss made 29 saves for the Red Wings (13-22-6), who have a point in five of seven.
"I thought we had a good start to the game, but we had a lead in the third period, and we found another way to lose," Detroit captain Dylan Larkin said. "We're making progress, but at some point that has to turn into getting results."
Ryan Johansen and Josi scored in the first two rounds of the shootout, and Saros made saves against Larkin and Filip Zadina.
"Juuse is just really good at shootouts; we see that every day in practice," Josi said. "I've taken two and I've scored both of them. I don't work on them much, but we all have our signature move to give ourselves some options."

NSH@DET: Johansen buries goal in shootout

Danny DeKeyser gave the Red Wings a 1-0 lead at 19:03 of the first period when his point shot hit Mattias Ekholm and got past Saros.
Josi hit the post twice in the second period, including a backhand that deflected off each post.
"We have some elite defensemen in our division, and he's certainly one of them," Detroit coach Jeff Blashill said. "He breaks down your defense when he attacks, and I thought he should have had a goal there when he hit both posts. He's one of the best defensemen in the League."

NSH@DET: Kunin wires home wicked wrister

Luke Kunin tied it 1-1 at 3:32 of the third period on a breakaway.
Adam Erne gave the Red Wings a 2-1 lead at 12:02 when he backhanded a rebound. Erne has an NHL career high nine goals and a four-game point streak.
"He plays hard every night with [Red Wings forwards Darren Helm and Luke Glendening], and they are hard to play against," Larkin said. "They create offense because they make the other team's lines work so hard, and it was great to see him get another tonight."
NOTES: Kunin left the game with 3:44 remaining in the third period after his ear was struck by the puck, and Predators defenseman Dante Fabbro sustained an undisclosed injury in the first. Hynes said he hoped to have an update on each injury Wednesday. … The Predators are 4-0 in shootouts this season; it was the Red Wings' first since March 8, 2020, a 5-4 win against the Tampa Bay Lightning. … Saros is 7-2-0 with a .964 save percentage in nine starts since returning from an upper-body injury March 18. … Detroit forward Anthony Mantha played his 300th NHL game.
