LAK@BOS: Bergeron wins it with power-play goal in OT

BOSTON -- Patrice Bergeron scored at 2:34 of overtime, and the Boston Bruins extended their point streak to six games with a 5-4 win against the Los Angeles Kings at TD Garden on Saturday.

Bergeron scored a power-play goal on a wrist shot from near the right face-off dot for the Bruins (30-17-8), who are 3-0-3 in their past six games.
The Bruins honored Bergeron, who had a goal and two assists, in a pregame ceremony for playing in 1,000 NHL games. He hit the milestone Tuesday against the New York Islanders.

"To get the win was very special," Bergeron said. "That's what I said on the bench, just we've got to find a way, and we did. Obviously we'll take, I guess, that bounce getting the power play in overtime. But we stuck with it and got it done."
Charlie McAvoy, Danton Heinen and Brad Marchand each had a goal and an assist, David Krejci scored, and Tuukka Rask made 25 saves to extend his personal point streak to 10 games (8-0-2) for Boston.
Alex Iafollo, Anze Kopitar, Nate Thompson and Oscar Fantenberg scored, and Jonathan Quick made 28 saves for the Kings (23-27-5), who had won their previous three games.
"In the end it was a good point," Kings coach Willie Desjardins said. "The guys battled back ... We could've been better at the start of the third. But the thing I've liked about this group is that they don't give up and it was good to see them turn around and get a couple and end up with one point anyway."
McAvoy scored on a tip from the top of the crease at 4:38 of the second period to give the Bruins a 1-0 lead. Bergeron set up the goal with a pass across the slot.

Iafollo tied it 1-1 with a power-play goal on a slap shot from the top of the right face-off circle at 8:13.
Kopitar's goal after a cross-ice pass by Dustin Brown gave the Kings a 2-1 lead at 14:02.
Heinen tied it 2-2 with a goal on a rebound of a McAvoy shot at 3:27 of the third period.
Krejci's one-timer from the right side of the slot after Torey Krug's shot went off the post gave Boston a 3-2 lead at 4:57.
Marchand's shorthanded goal on a 2-on-2 with Bergeron made it 4-2 at 6:49.

Thompson scored at 9:19 with a shot from the slot after a pass by Brendan Leipsic to cut the Boston lead to 4-3.
Fantenberg scored his first goal of the season on a one-timer at 15:13 to tie it 4-4.
Rask stopped an Adrian Kempe breakaway at 52 seconds of overtime.
The Bruins squandered a two-goal lead in the third period for the second straight game but prevailed, unlike in their 4-3 shootout loss at the New York Rangers on Wednesday.
"It wasn't like it was a barrage and we were on our heels the whole time," Bruins coach Bruce Cassidy said. "They were opportunistic, we needed to be harder on the puck on both those [Los Angeles goals in the third]. That's what L.A. does well, they're a heavy team. So that will be the message going forward in those situations. But [I'm] glad to see us rebound and sort of put it behind us and keep playing."

EA Overtime Winner: Bergeron seals win for Bruins

They said it

"Yeah, they have some good players … they're definitely a lot to handle. But I thought we did a good job throughout most of the game other than that three, four minutes that we weren't ready to play [in the third period]." -- Kings forward Brendan Leipsic
"He's the ultimate pro the way he conducts himself, prepares himself each and every day and show up consistently in the big moments. He continues to prove himself, so yeah pro is a great word, but I think God's a little more fitting." -- Bruins forward Brad Marchand on Patrice Bergeron
