Ryan Callahan will not accompany the Tampa Bay Lightning on their two-game road trip after the forward sustained an upper-body injury against the Toronto Maple Leafs on Tuesday.
Callahan tangled with Toronto forward Josh Leivo with four minutes left in the first period. He went to the dressing room holding his right shoulder.

Lightning coach Jon Cooper said he was encouraged by Callahan's presence at practice Wednesday but that the 33-year-old needed more evaluation and would not travel for games at the New York Islanders on Thursday (7 p.m. ET; SN, MSG+, SUN, NHL.TV) and at the New Jersey Devils on Saturday.
"He's still getting evaluated," Cooper said. "He will not come on the trip. We'll have to see what happens. It was encouraging that he was here today and is feeling much better. So take a few games off here and we'll probably re-evaluate him next week."
The Lightning (50-19-4) have clinched a berth in the Stanley Cup Playoffs and are in first place in the Atlantic Division, five points ahead of the Boston Bruins.
Callahan has 15 points (four goals, 11 assists) in 63 games. He leads the Lightning with 127 hits and averages 13:20 of ice time. Callahan missed eight games from Dec. 16 to Jan. 2 with an upper-body injury.
