Hellebuyck's new mask shows smiling Byfuglien ice fishing

Don't turn Connor Hellebuyck on to any new hobbies or you will end up on his next goalie mask.

The Winnipeg Jets goalie said teammate Dustin Byfuglien got him in to ice fishing recently. So when it came time to design a new bucket, Hellebuyck wanted to incorporate an ice fishing scene.
When the inevitable question arose "Why not depict Byfuglien ice fishing?" it would seem that Hellebuyck didn't have a reason to say no, because that is the exact design that won out.

The entire left side of Hellebuyck's new mask is a smiling Byfuglien, clad in a Jets jersey catching a fish from inside a nearby hole in the ice.
Hellebuyck said he bought Byfuglien's old boat and spent a lot of time on it this summer.
Wearing the defenseman's likeness on the side of his head can only bring the two teammates closer.
