CBJ@DET: Zetterberg drops first puck at home opener

Henrik Zetterberg took part in dozens of ceremonial puck drops during his 15 seasons with the Detroit Red Wings, but never as the guy dropping the puck.

Zetterberg, who was captain of the Red Wings from 2012-13 until announcing last month that he was unable to continue his hockey career because of a degenerative back condition, was on hand to drop the puck before Detroit's season opener against the Columbus Blue Jackets at Little Caesars Arena on Thursday. He was also honored with a highlight video.
Zetterberg, who won the Conn Smythe Trophy in 2008 when the Red Wings won the Stanley Cup for the fourth time since 1997, played all of his 1,082 NHL games with Detroit. He is fifth in team history in goals (337), assists (623) and points (960).
