Facts and Figures: Penguins stay hot on road

Forward Jake Guentzel's second hat trick of the season helped the Pittsburgh Penguins rally from three goals down to defeat the Anaheim Ducks 7-4 at Honda Center on Friday for their sixth consecutive road win. Pittsburgh's six-game road winning streak is the longest in the NHL this season and the Penguins' longest since their team-record eight-game streak from March 11 to April 7, 2016

Guentzel, who also scored three goals against the Columbus Blue Jackets on Nov. 24, is the sixth player with multiple hat tricks this season. Winnipeg Jets forward Patrik Laine has three; Blue Jackets forward Cam Atkinson, Jets forward Nikolaj Ehlers, Washington Capitals forward Alex Ovechkin and Boston Bruins forward David Pastrnak each has two. Guentzel (21 goals) is the 30th player to reach the 20-goal mark this season, the highest such total through the first 686 games in any season since 1996-97 (34).
Penguins goalie Matt Murray made 21 saves and is 9-0-0 in his past nine appearances dating to Dec. 15. He is the fourth different goaltender in Penguins history to have a personal winning streak of at least nine games and the first since Marc-Andre Fleury went 9-0-0 from Feb. 21 to March 17, 2012.

Williams extends goal streak for surging Hurricanes

Forward Justin Williams extended his goal streak to four games and helped the Carolina Hurricanes hold off the Buffalo Sabres 4-3 at PNC Arena. The Hurricanes are 6-1-0 in their past seven games.
Williams (37 years, 99 days) became the third player in Hurricanes/Hartford Whalers history to record a goal streak of at least four games at age 37 or older. He joins 38-year-olds Ron Francis from Dec. 27, 2001 to Jan. 2, 2002 (five goals in four games) and Rod Brind'Amour from March 7-12, 2009 (four goals in four games).

Skinner reaches 30-goal mark against former team

In his first game at PNC Arena since being traded from the Hurricanes to the Sabres on Aug. 2, Buffalo forward Jeff Skinner scored his 30th goal of the season. He's second in the NHL in goals, two behind Ovechkin.

Skinner, one of four players who won the 2019 NHL All-Star Last Men In presented by adidas fan vote, became the fifth different Sabres player to score 30 goals in 45 or fewer appearances and the third to do so in his first season with Buffalo.
He scored 30 goals or more three times with the Hurricanes, including a career-high 37 in 2016-17.

Flames overcome slow start to defeat Panthers

The Western Conference-leading Calgary Flames (29-13-4) climbed out of an early two-goal hole by scoring four consecutive goals to defeat the Florida Panthers 4-3 at Scotiabank Saddledome. Calgary has won four in a row and is 7-1-1 in its past nine games.
Calgary scored twice in the third period and leads the NHL with 69 third-period goals. The Flames also have a League-leading plus-35 goal differential in the third period.
Mark Giordano's second-period goal continued his point-per-game pace (44 points; seven goals, 37 assists in 44 games). Giordano (35 years, 100 days) can become the third defenseman in NHL history age 35 or older to conclude a season averaging at least one point per game (minimum 50 GP); he would join Boston's Ray Bourque in 1995-96 (82 points; 20 goals, 62 assists in 82 games) and Nicklas Lidstrom of the Detroit Red Wings in 2005-06 (80 points; 16 goals, 64 assists in 80 games).

Little reaches 500-point milestone with Jets

Forward Bryan Little's 500th NHL point, a second-period goal, was the game-winner for the Winnipeg Jets in a 4-2 victory against the Detroit Red Wings at Bell MTS Place. The Jets (28-14-2) are 7-2-0 in their past nine home games.
Little (209 goals, 291 assists), who was selected by the Atlanta Thrashers in the first round (No. 12) in the 2006 NHL Draft, became the third player to have 500 points with the Jets/Thrashers franchise, joining Ilya Kovalchuk (615 points; 328 goals, 287 assists in 594 games played) and Blake Wheeler (552 points; 180 goals, 372 assists in 601 games).

McDavid ready for last game as 21-year-old

Center Connor McDavid will play his final game as a 21-year-old on Saturday when the Edmonton Oilers host the Arizona Coyotes at Rogers Place (10 p.m. ET; SN, FS-A, NHL.TV). The two-time defending NHL scoring champion turns 22 on Sunday.
McDavid is tied for fourth in the NHL in scoring with 66 points (26 goals, 40 assists), and is sixth in NHL history in points by a player before turning 22 with 322 (113 goals, 209 assists). Wayne Gretzky is the all-time leader with 600 (240 goals, 400 assists), followed by Dale Hawerchuk (423 points; 173 goals, 250 assists), Sidney Crosby (397 points; 132 goals, 265 assists), Mario Lemieux (348 points; 145 goals, 203 assists) and Jimmy Carson (325 points; 162 goals, 163 assists).
All but Lemieux (215) played in at least 288 games; Saturday will be McDavid's 253rd.
