EDM@ANA: Milano taps home PPG for OT winner

ANAHEIM -- Sonny Milano scored two goals in his Anaheim Ducks debut, the second in overtime in a 4-3 win against the Edmonton Oilers at Honda Center on Tuesday.

Milano, one of five players who made their Anaheim debut, drew a tripping penalty on Connor McDavid at 1:09 of overtime and scored on the power play at 2:05.
"We had a set play that didn't work out, but we went with our gut there," Milano said of the game-winner. "Adam] Henrique told me to switch out and he gave me a good pass. I just tapped it in."

Henrique had a goal and an assist, and John Gibson made 29 saves for the Ducks (25-30-8), who had lost five straight at home (0-4-1).
Tyler Ennis and Andreas Athanasiou each had a goal and an assist in their debut, McDavid had three assists while centering their line, and Mike Smith made 17 saves for Edmonton (33-22-8), which is tied with the Vancouver Canucks for second place in the Pacific Division, two points behind the Vegas Golden Knights.
"I thought they were great, they made plays all night," McDavid said of Ennis and Athanasiou. "I really liked playing with them."
Athanasiou poked in the puck as it sat in the crease behind Gibson following a save on Ennis to tie it 3-3 at 15:25 of the third period.
"I thought we stuck with our game plan," Henrique said. "We kept battling, kept pushing, even after they tied it up."

Henrique had made it 3-2 at 12:33 of the third period when he scored off a feed from Danton Heinen, who was also making his Anaheim debut.
"Seemed like all of them got involved throughout the game, either on the scoresheet or physically, so it was nice to see," Henrique said of his new teammates. "It's certainly a weird day today. A lot of changes. A lot of guys coming in, but I thought they did a great job just coming in, settling in, and just going out and playing hockey today."
Milano gave the Ducks a 1-0 lead at 5:46 of the first period after stealing the puck in the Edmonton zone and poking it past Smith with one hand.

Anaheim's fourth line got a goal when Nicolas Deslauriers scored on a one-timer from the slot to make it 2-0 at 13:12.
"In the first period we just got outworked," Edmonton coach Dave Tippett said. "Those are easy ones to fix. If we are going to be a good playoff team you have to be able to start on time."
Ennis scored off assists from McDavid and Athanasiou to make it 2-1 at 9:09 of the second period.
"It's a pretty speedy couple of [linemates] I got," Ennis said. "Connor and [Athanasiou] are so fast. I think I'm just trying to get it to those guys and work hard."
Leon Draisaitl scored his 37th goal and 99th point of the season on a one-timer from the right circle on a power play to tie it 2-2 at 4:23 of the third period.

Ducks defenseman Hampus Lindholm sustained an upper-body injury when he crashed into the boards at 7:57 of the second period. Eakins did not have an update after the game.
"We held our breath just because he went into the boards so awkwardly there," Eakins said.
Forward Andrew Agozzino and defensemen Christian Djoos and Matt Irwin also made their Anaheim debuts after they were acquired on Monday. Irwin had a game-high seven hits.
"For all those guys coming in, it was an exciting day for them, but you're never sure what you're going to get in a game," Eakins said.
