BOSTON -- Brad Marchand scored with 31 seconds left in overtime to give the Boston Bruins a 2-1 win against the Dallas Stars at TD Garden on Monday.

David Krejci made a slap pass from the blue line, and Marchand settled the puck on his blade at the bottom of the right circle before he snuck a wrist shot inside the far corner during a 5-on-3 power play.

"When we got in the zone I saw that there was only 35 seconds left, or something, so I was trying to get it to the net," Marchand said. "I was kind of looking for the backdoor [pass] to [Patrice Bergeron] and they were sitting on it. So luckily I got a shot."
David Pastrnak also scored, and Tuukka Rask made 24 saves for the Bruins (8-4-2), who improved to 5-1-0 at home.

Radek Faksa scored, and Anton Khudobin made 33 saves for the Stars (8-5-1), who had their three-game winning streak end.
"We kind of know what to do and we didn't do it on the ice today, but we still got one point," Stars defenseman Roman Polak said. "We didn't play good enough as a team but we still found a way to get the one point, and I think on the road that's big for us. Every point is valuable for us so we just have to learn from it."
Faksa scored on the Stars' second shot of the game for a 1-0 lead at 3:51 of the first period. He carried the puck into the Boston zone during a penalty kill and scored on a shot that deflected off defenseman Torey Krug.
"I wasn't shooting enough last 13 games so I was saying to myself I should shoot more, and I got rewarded," Faksa said.

Pastrnak responded during the same power play and tied it 1-1 with a goal at 5:11 on a one-timer from the left hash marks. Jake DeBrusk won a battle in the right corner and Bergeron moved the loose puck to Pastrnak.
"Obviously a great pass by [Bergeron], seen it many times," Pastrnak said. "But I kind of had to ... it was a little bit in front so I had to move forward and as soon as I shot I kind of lost balance because I had to move forward."
The Bruins thought they scored the go-ahead goal at 17:22 of the second period but the whistle blew before Anders Bjork tucked the rebound of a Krug shot into the net.
The Stars were called for too many men on the ice at 3:16 of overtime, and then Esa Lindell was whistled for cross checking Marchand at 3:27, setting up the Bruins' two-man advantage that led to Marchand's winning goal.
"The penalties are penalties," Dallas coach Jim Montgomery said. "You can maybe debate the too many men, maybe we jumped a half a second early. But the other one, we just pushed on the wrong body part and we ended up down.
"After that I thought we had valiant effort, I thought we did a really good job. But they've got very talented hockey players over there, one of the best lines in the league. They're out there for almost two full minutes 5-on-3, they're going to score eventually."

They said it

"Say a couple swear words, maybe break the stick against the wall, go on a plane, watch some TV, come back, maybe say another couple swear words, or whatever, yell at somebody and go to sleep." -- Stars goaltender Anton Khudobin on how they can reset before their game Tuesday
"Obviously we came out on the right end of it tonight. It was a good game for us, I thought we played well. We came out after the second trying not to get frustrated, just realizing that if we played another third period [as well as the first two] we'd end up winning, and ultimately it took a little more time but we got the job done." -- Bruins defenseman Torey Krug
