SCOTTSDALE, ARIZONA -Arizona Coyotes General Manager Bill Armstrong announced today that the Coyotes have assigned forward Dylan Guenther to the Seattle Thunderbirds (WHL). Seattle acquired Guenther's rights from the Edmonton Oil Kings on Jan. 10.

"Just like the World Junior Championships where Dylan helped lead Canada to a gold medal, this is a tremendous opportunity for him to join a very good Seattle club, play top line minutes, and hopefully lead his team to a Memorial Cup," said Armstrong. "Dylan has played well for us this season and he has a very bright future with the Coyotes. We look forward to watching his development the rest of the season."
The 19-year-old Guenther registered 6-9-15 and 10 penalty minutes (PIM) in 33 games with the Coyotes this season. The winger ranked tied for sixth on the team in points per game (0.45) and is tied for the second-most power-play goals (4) among all NHL rookie skaters.
The 6-foot-2, 181-pound native of Edmonton, AB was loaned to Team Canada for the 2023 World Junior Championship where he posted 10 points (7-3-10) in seven games. His seven goals ranked tied for second among all skaters in the tournament. Guenther also netted the overtime-winning goal to secure the gold medal for Team Canada in the championship matchup.
Guenther recorded 86-92-178 and 69 PIM in 137 WHL games with the Oil Kings from 2018-22. He was originally drafted by the Coyotes in the first round (9th overall) in the 2021 NHL Entry Draft.
