Crawford-CHI

Corey Crawford was activated from injured reserve by the Chicago Blackhawks on Monday.

The 34-year-old goalie has been out since sustaining a concussion Dec. 16.
"It's great," Blackhawks general manager Stan Bowman said. "Obviously he's an important part of our team, so the fact that he's been activated is a great sign. Can't wait to see him on the ice."
Crawford also missed the first five games of the season recovering from a concussion sustained Dec. 23, 2017. Bowman said there's concern about Crawford coming off his second concussion but there's no hesitation about putting him into a game.
"Of course you're concerned," he said. "You want every player to avoid injury. Not just Corey but all of our guys. He's certainly prepared himself well, he's really worked at it, he's taken his time. I know there's a lot of concern for him, not only from the media and the fans but internally, to make sure he's on the right path and he's ready to play. I think when you talk to him, he's excited. He wants to get back on the ice. I know he's been pushing for us to get him back there even sooner, but you've got to do things the right way and follow the protocols and listen to the doctors. And that's how we got to this point.
"He's been practicing for a couple of weeks. He's been seeing a lot of pucks and I think he's tired of practicing. Yeah, there's always going to be that first game when you've been off the ice for a while. The game action, there's really no replica for that. But he's been practicing quite a bit so I think he's tired of practicing."
The Blackhawks (26-28-9) are five points behind the Minnesota Wild for the second wild card into the Stanley Cup Playoffs from the Western Conference. They play the Anaheim Ducks at Honda Center on Wednesday (10 p.m. ET; NBCSN, NBCSCH+).
Crawford is 6-14-2 with a 3.28 goals-against average and .902 save percentage in 23 games this season.
To make room for Crawford, goalie Collin Delia was sent to Rockford of the American Hockey League. The 24-year-old is 6-4-3 with a 3.48 GAA and .909 save percentage in 15 games (14 starts).
