Blue Jackets team scope

Columbus Blue Jackets forward Matt Calvert is day to day with an upper-body injury and did not travel with the team for their back-to-back games in Florida. Coach John Tortorella had no further update. Tortorella said that he hopes pairing forward Boone Jenner back with Brandon Dubinsky will help him recover from a slow start to the season. "I think that's the most comfortable fit for him right now," Tortorella said. "It seems like he's getting close sometimes and then it seems to fall off. He's going to be a better player for it in the long run. We need him and we'll let him work through it." Tortorella said he would like to see more balanced scoring and is looking to Josh Anderson (five goals) and his line to make that happen. "Josh brings people along with his speed and has forechecked very well," Tortorella said. "But I'd like to see the line score a goal or two."

Lightning team scope

Tampa Bay Lightning forward Brian Boyle is expected to play after going through an optional practice on Thursday and the morning skate on Friday. He didn't play Wednesday against the Philadelphia Flyers. "I took a little twirl [Thursday] and I hope I keep progressing," Boyle said. "It's frustrating but it happens, especially this year with the schedule, but I'm feeling better." Despite the tough early-season schedule, coach Jon Cooper says he's happy with his team's effort as they reach the quarter point of the season. "If our goaltending has been down a little bit, we picked up our scoring and if we weren't scoring, our goaltending was there for us," Cooper said. "We've shown the ability to come from behind, which has been a good sign other than we've allowed ourselves to get behind."
