Calgary Flames forward Troy Brouwer won't play Tuesday after sustaining a hand injury Friday in a 4-1 win against the Vancouver Canucks. Micheal Ferland will take Brouwer's place at right wing on a line with left wing Kris Versteeg and center Sean Monahan. Brouwer has 17 points (eight goals, nine assists) in 36 games. "We're going to give an update on his status [Wednesday]," coach Glen Gulutzan said. Goaltender Brian Elliott is expected to start for Flames, who traveled Tuesday and went directly from the Denver airport to Pepsi Center for the morning skate. It's a one-game trip for Calgary, which will fly home Tuesday night. "We were joking about it, saying this is the way it should be, right out the wrapper," Gulutzan said. "Onto the plane and onto the ice, guys holding their bags. It was back to old school, like peewee. We're just going to get ready to play tonight. We talked about it before when we went through the schedule, that this one is a game where we're going to grind it out. We're going to come in here and get it done."
