LAS VEGAS -- Max Pacioretty scored in his debut with the Vegas Golden Knights, a 7-2 win against the Arizona Coyotes in the preseason opener for each team at T-Mobile Arena on Sunday.
Pacioretty, acquired in a trade from the Montreal Canadiens on Sept. 10, gave Vegas a 3-1 lead with a power-play goal at 8:39 of the first period. Jonathan Marchessault scored two goals for the Golden Knights. William Karlsson and defensemen Erik Brannstrom, Nicolas Hague and Jake Bischoff also scored for Vegas, which got 25 saves from Dylan Ferguson. Defensemen Jordan Oesterle and Jordan Gross scored for the Coyotes. Darcy Kuemper allowed six goals on 27 shots in the first and second periods, and Adin Hill allowed one on four shots in the third.
