The Sharks called up center Ryan Carpenter and forward Barclay Goodrow from the San Jose Barracuda of the American Hockey League, and one of them will be in the lineup against Anaheim, coach Peter DeBoer said. The Sharks, who have won the first three of their five-game homestand and are 7-2-0 at SAP Center this season, placed forward Melker Karlsson (left ankle) on injured reserve. Center Tomas Hertl (right knee) also is on injured reserve, and forward Tommy Wingels (lower body), injured in the first period of a 3-2 victory against the New York Islanders on Friday, is out. "It's testing our depth," DeBoer said. "I think right from training camp, I've been very comfortable with our depth. I think there's a lot of guys. When we're making those decisions who comes up, it's not a list of one guy or two guys. Maybe last year you're talking about the same one or two guys every night. Now that list is four or five deep." Wingels has been center on the fourth line, and it's likely Carpenter will fill that spot against Anaheim. Carpenter, 25, played one game for the Sharks last season and was on their roster during a five-game road trip in October but did not play. "I just have to play hard and keep it simple and kind of build off of training camp and the start I had with the Barracuda," Carpenter said. No. 1 goaltender Martin Jones, who backed up Aaron Dell on Friday, will start against the Ducks. Jones has won his past two starts, giving up one goal.
