TAMPA BAY - Vinik Sports Group (VSG) and the Tampa Bay Lightning have hired industry veteran Jim Frevola to the position of Chief Commercial Officer (CCO) today, Chief Executive Officer Steve Griggs announced. Frevola brings with him more than 30 years of business and partnership development experience with a track record for increasing revenues and strengthening relationships.

As CCO Frevola will report directly to Chief Operating Officer Mark Pitts and serve on VSG's senior leadership team. He will oversee all aspects of the company's sales strategies and plans, and will be responsible for developing, designing and implementing VSG's commercial vision. Frevola will lead multiple departments for the organization, including membership sales and service, groups sales, executive suite sales and service, partnerships, strategy and analytics, as well as the ticket office.

Frevola comes to VSG and the Lightning after five years with the Vegas Golden Knights where he joined the expansion franchise in March of 2017 as senior vice president and chief sales officer. In that role he was responsible for developing and maintaining all relationships with club partners. Frevola helped the Golden Knights to No. 3 in the NHL for partnership revenue. Prior to joining the Golden Knights he spent three seasons with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers of the National Football League, serving as Chief Partnership Officer.
Prior to his tenure with the Buccaneers, Frevola served as Vice President of Marketing Partnerships for UFC from 2011 through 2014. Under his guidance UFC leveraged their unique content to grow their annual partnership revenue from $19 million to $62 million during a three-year period, while also increasing the quality of partners associated with the brand.
Frevola also served as Associate Athletic Director for External Operations at his alma mater, the University of Miami. While with Hurricanes athletics he was responsible for ticket sales, ticket operations, sports information, marketing, corporate sponsorships, broadcasting and internet/new media. He also worked as Senior Director of Business Development and Marketing Partnerships for the Miami Dolphins of the NFL from 2001-2005.
Earning a B.A. in communications and politics from University of Miami, he has also worked with the Florida Marlins, in minor league baseball and as a sports television producer.
