Training-Camp

On the eve of the opening night puck drop, General Manager Rob Blake spoke to the media about the COVID-19 protocol, the status of Quinton Byfield and Arthur Kaliyev and the signing of Andreas Athanasiou.

"Over the past month [prior to signing Athanasiou] there had been constant communication with his camp, our desire to sign him and the opportunity we thought we could offer him within our organization," Blake said.
Blake also touched on who he felt utilized the offseason to their advantage.
"On the veteran side, probably Jeff Carter. For him, with the surgery he had at the beginning of the pause, he had a full time to recover... On another front, Rasmus Kupari during the 2020 World Juniors tore his ACL and had to have it redone. He had a full year before he even had to start training camp. It helped him with that extended period of time. That's two age ranges from a young 21 year-old to a 36 year-old who took advantage of the time off," Blake said.

After appearing in four games for the Kings last season, Kale Clague met virtually with the media covering his number change, the uniqueness of the offseason and his areas of growth over the past three years.
"I think the areas where I've taken the most strides has been in the defensive zone and quite frankly that is still an area I am looking to take more strides in. I'm an offense of minded defenseman, but coming into the professional ranks I needed to work on my defense of game if I wanted to play the NHL level. I think I've done that, but there's room for improvement," Clague said.

Now entering his first full season with the Kings, the California native Trevor Moore spoke to the media on Wednesday about his comfort level with the Kings system, playing for his hometown team, playing for Todd McLellan and his goals for the team and himself.
"I think for the team, everyone wants to push for the playoffs. I don't see why we can't do that. We believe in this team and there are lot of good players here. As for myself, I try not to put too many expectations on season goals, I just want to play the game the right way and help our team get into good positions to succeed," Moore told the media.
