It was the second time in a week that the Kings and Vancouver Canucks faced off. It was also game two of four on the season against the Western Conference’s top team. The low scoring affair needed extra time on Tuesday night at Crypto.com Arena as the Kings extended their point streak to three games, but ultimately fell in overtime.

The Kings struck first for their only goal of the game midway into the opening period when the line of Kevin Fiala, Phillip Danault and Trevor Moore each factored in on the sequence. Not credited for an assist, Fiala centered a puck that resulted in a defensive turnover by the Canucks and Danault capitalized on the loose puck by feeding Moore backdoor for his team-leading 24th goal of the season.

The Kings took a 1-0 lead into the first intermission, but surrendered a goal late in the second period. It was an extended defensive zone shift for the Kings when Elias Pettersson jumped on the ice for the Canucks. Pettersson promptly weaved his way around multiple tired Kings and beat Cam Talbot to even the score at 1-1. Pettersson’s goal gave him 30 on the season.

The third period went scoreless between the two teams despite a pair of golden opportunities backdoor from Alex Turcotte and Trevor Lewis.

Into overtime, the Canucks picked up the extra point available as they converted 1:36 into the extra session on a 4-on-3 delayed penalty on the Kings when JT Miller took a pass from Brock Boeser and beat Talbot five hole.

Talbot made his fourth consecutive start for the Kings and stopped 29 of 31 shots.
