OHL Coaches Poll

The Ontario Hockey League announced the results of their coaches polls for the 2019-20 OHL regular season, which saw four LA Kings prospects honored in a variety of categories.
Kings draft picks Arthur Kaliyev, Jacob Ingham, Akil Thomas and Aidan Dudas were each recognized in the poll.
The OHL Coaches Poll provides member club coaches with the opportunity to recognize the top three players in 20 different skill categories within their own conference. Here's how each of the four Kings prospects were honored, and a look at how their 2019-20 campaigns went before the OHL announced the cancellation of its regular season and playoffs.

Arthur Kaliyev

Arthur Kaliyev was the most frequently represented Kings prospect in this poll, as the 2019 second-round selection was honored three times.
Each of Kaliyev's three selections were related to his shot and goalscoring ability, as the 18-year-old forward was voted second in the "Most Dangerous in Goal Area", "Best Shot" and "Hardest Shot" categories amongst all players in the Eastern Conference.
The American also placed in the Top-2 in all three categories during the 2018-19 season, and is the only player in the OHL to have been honored in three separate categories in each of the last two seasons.
Kaliyev's gaudy offensive totals make it no surprise to see him mentioned amongst the league's finest shooters and scorers. The 6'2" winger finished the 2019-20 regular season tied for sixth in the OHL in goals (44), fifth in points (98), tied for third in power-play goals (16) and power-play points (41) and second in shots on goal (288).
His 0.77 goals-per-game ranked fourth amongst players with at least 50 games played and Kaliyev was 42 points clear of his next closest teammate, while his 95 goals over the last two seasons combined are the most in the OHL.

Jacob Ingham

Jacob Ingham was the only Kings prospect to rank first in a category, as he was voted as the Western Conference's "Best Shootout Goaltender", one season after he was voted third in the same category. Ingham was also ranked second in the 'Best Puck-Handling Goaltender" category in the Western Conference.
Ingham faced more shots (1,636), and made more saves (1,501), than any goaltender in the OHL this season. The 19-year-old netminder also led the OHL with 33 wins, as he posted the third-best save percentage (.917) across the league.
The 6'4" netminder was 33-8-5 overall, with a pair of shutouts, as he led the Kitchener Rangers into a tie for the second most points in the Western Conference, and a playoff berth, at the time of the season cancellation.

Akil Thomas

Akil Thomas was voted third in the "Smartest Player" category in the Eastern Conference. The 19-year-old Thomas spent his 2019-20 season split between Niagara and Peterborough, and was captain with Niagara during his time with the team. Thomas, a center, filled in on the blueline with the IceDogs when his team was shorthanded, showcasing his versatility and smarts.
Thomas amassed 84 points (24-60-84) from 49 OHL games played with the IceDogs and Petes, with his 60 assists tied for fifth across the league and his 1.22 assists-per-game ranking third leaguewide.
Thomas also ranked inside the OHL's Top-10 with 25 power-play assists and was 11th in points, despite playing in less than 50 games. Thomas also scored the "golden goal", as he netted the game-winner for Team Canada in the Gold Medal Game at the 2020 World Juniors.

Aidan Dudas

Aidan Dudas was also honored, as he was voted third in the "Best Stickhandler" category in the Western Conference. Dudas is honored in the poll for the second consecutive season, after he was voted atop the charts in the "Hardest Worker" category during the 2018-19 season. Dudas signed his entry-level contract with the Kings in December, the fourth member of his draft class to sign with LAK.
Dudas had a solid season with the Owen Sound Attack, as he ranked second on the team with 1.10 points-per-game and fourth with 53 points in total (15-38-53) from 48 games played. Dudas, who captained the Attack this season, was tied for his team's lead in scoring a season ago and made his professional debut in the AHL with Ontario in March 2019.
The 5'8" forward joined Thomas as a gold-medal winner at the 2020 World Juniors tournament. Dudas totaled two assists in the tournament, both of which came in the semi-finals to propel Canada in the championship game.
