The Kings capped off a six-game road trip and extended their point streak to six games with another puck possession dominated game, defeating the Detroit Red Wings 5-3 on Wednesday night. It was a road trip full of milestones, starting with Drew Doughty's 1,000th career NHL game and Quinton Byfield's first career NHL goal. It ended with another milestone on Wednesday when defenseman Olli Maatta stepped on the ice against the Red Wings and played in his 500th career NHL game. Maatta didn't factor in on the scoresheet, but played a big part defensively for the Kings breaking up multiple Red Wings offensive opportunities. Maatta went +3 and logged 19:25 TOI. As for the offensive explosion, the Kings got goals from Phillip Danault (twice), Arthur Kaliyev, Viktor Arvidsson and Adrian Kempe. Kempe' s empty net goal was his team-high 19th on the season.
