The Kings capped off a wild road trip with a 2-1-1 record after knocking off the Washington Capitals 3-2 on Sunday night. Going up against four of the Eastern Conference's top six teams, the Kings were able to grab five of the possible eight points despite losing Drew Doughty, Cal Petersen and Phillip Danault during the trip (COVID-19 protocols).
After surrendering the game's first two goals, the Kings responded with three unanswered tallies on Sunday to beat the Capitals. Jumpstarting the Kings offense was Blake Lizotte who put the good guys on the board with a glove-side short-handed tally with just 2:56 remaining in the second period. Then, in just his seventh game with the organization and his fourth game with the LA this season, Christian Wolanin tied the game with his first goal in a Kings uniform off of a rebound from a Matt Roy wrist shot with 17:10 to go in the third period. Adrian Kempe completed the comeback with an in tight goal with 10:24 left in the third period, giving him a team-high 12 goals on the season.
In net, Garret Sparks made his Kings debut, stopping 33 of the 35 shots he faced. It was Sparks first NHL start since to 2018-19 season (TOR) and his 15th career win.
