PREGAME | JetsTV Road Report

PREGAME | Josh Morrissey

Of the 18 skaters flying to Edmonton, 10 played in Monday's 2-1 win over the Minnesota Wild. One of those is Marko Dano, who scored the game's opening goal. Brendan Lemieux assisted on that goal with a hard drive to the net, and the two will once again be united on a line - this time with Seth Griffith in the middle.
"(Lemieux) a power forward and he takes the puck to the net, and I try to do the same thing. We have good chemistry there," said Dano. "I think Seth is a skilled player. He can fit real well. Hopefully we'll get some more time on the ice and produce more offence. But we have to be aware of the defensive side too, so hopefully we can spend more time in their zone than ours."

PREGAME | Paul Maurice

The 23-year-old Dano played in 23 games last season, but that didn't change his attitude when he came to the rink every night.
"I was just trying to do my job and stay positive every day and work on those things that you're not able to when you're playing," said Dano, adding that tight turns and plays out of the corner were two of the things he worked on with coaches after practice.
"Last season helped me in that way. It got me mentally stronger and hopefully now I can earn a spot and be a part of the team and play on the ice more and more."

PREGAME | Marko Dano

Dano used the summer to drop 15 pounds, and says he feels a step quicker on the ice in training camp. Head coach Paul Maurice has noticed as well, and said the way Dano handled last season will earn him an extra look this season.
"He's made some big improvements in his game," said Maurice. "He's going to get a certain benefit of the doubt based on the way he handled that year. Haven't had that a whole lot where we stayed fairly healthy for stretches, or guys came in and I didn't take him out, he just lost minutes to other guys.
"But he handled it so well, and he worked hard. Then he went home and did what we asked him to do.You're going to put out your best line-up on opening night, so it's not a free ride to a job."
Based on this morning's skate at Bell MTS Iceplex, the Jets line-up is expected to look like this:
Copp-Lowry-Tanev
Vesalainen-Roslovic-Appleton
Lemieux-Griffith-Dano
Spacek-Everberg-Lipon
Morrissey-Trouba
Stanley-Morrow
Niku-Poolman
Eric Comrie will get the start in goal after backing up Laurent Brossoit on Monday night.

PREGAME | Jack Roslovic

Maurice has liked the growth he's seen in Comrie's game during training camp.
"When he went in and played a game for us (in Columbus), his low work is outstanding," said Maurice. "He's not a 6'5" goalie, and that's what they all look like now. He has to use his positioning on the ice to buy himself some size, if you will. It looks like he'll be able to do that. That takes years.
"Early on he'd get beat high quite heavily, even in practice. He looks bigger in the net. His positioning is right and he's worked hard at it."
Puck drop is set for 8 pm CT at Rogers Place.
