Feels Like the First Time:Ohio State University product Mason Jobstis the latest player to make his professional debut with the Sound Tigers. He joined the club late last season on an amateur tryout contact (ATO), but didn't make an appearance until Saturday's season opener in Springfield, where he recorded two shots. The Speedway, Ind. native spent each of the last four seasons at Ohio State, serving as team captain the last two. He was selected as a finalist for the Hobey Baker Award (top NCAA player) last Spring.
Quick Hits: Matt Lorito scored the first two goals of the season for the Sound Tigers, including one on a penalty shot…It was the first penalty-shot goal for the team since March 4, 2016 (Bracken Kearns)… Five players made their Sound Tigers debut on Saturday, the most since the 2014-15 season….This is the first time in more than a decade the Sound Tigers have dropped their first two games of the regular season… Kyle Burroughswas named team captain last Friday.
The week ahead:
Friday, Oct. 11 at Charlotte (7 p.m.):The Sound Tigers make their way to the Queen City for the first of four contests against the Charlotte Checkers. Like Bridgeport, the Checkers opened their season with road matchups against the Wolf Pack (5-3 loss) and Thunderbirds (4-2 win) last weekend. The Sound Tigers went an even 4-4-0-0 against Charlotte in 2018-19.
Saturday, Oct. 12 at Charlotte (6 p.m.):The Sound Tigers wrap up their two-game season series in North Carolina with the second game in as many days against the Checkers. Puck drop is scheduled for one hour earlier at 6 p.m.
