The National Hockey League announced today that New York Islanders forward Brock Nelson has been named the Third Star of the Week for the period ending Sunday, November 24.
Nelson, 29, posted five points (four goals, one assist) in three games last week. His two overtime goals helped the Islanders to a 2-0-1 record, as the club extended its point streak to a franchise-record 17 games. Nelson's four goals and two game-winners were tied for most in the NHL last week.

A native of Warroad, MN, Nelson posted a season-high three points (two goals, one assist) on Tuesday against Pittsburgh and recorded another two-goal outing in Thursday's win to cap off the home-and-home series against the Metropolitan Division rival Penguins.
Selected by the Islanders in the first round, 30th overall, of the 2010 NHL Draft, Nelson has 19 points (eight goals, 11 assists) in 21 games this season. He's scored 260 points (132 goals, 128 assists) in 501 career NHL games.
