WAHLSTROM, COCKERILL EARN SILVER MEDALS AT WORLD JUNIORS:

The silver medal was the first for both Wahlstrom and Cockerill, who had both previously earned a gold medal at the U18 WJC.
Noah Dobson, the 12th-overall pick in 2018, recorded one goal in five games for Canada at the World Juniors. Canada was eliminated in 2-1 OT loss to Finland in the quarterfinals.
Goalie Jakub Skarek, the Isles' 2018 third-round pick (72nd overall), played one period for the Czech Republic at World Juniors. The Czechs were eliminated by Team USA in the quarters.

DOBSON TRADED TO ROUYN-NORANDA:

Noah Dobson was traded from the Acadie-Bathurst Titan to the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies on Sunday, officially completing the previously reported QMJHL trade.
Dobson, the Islanders' 2018 first-round pick (12th overall), was traded for draft picks, as Acadie-Bathurst acquired three first-round picks (2019, 2020, 2021) and a second-round pick (2019). Two of the first-round picks (2019, 20) and the second-round pick previously belonged to Chicoutimi.
In the trade, Dobson goes from last-placed Acadie-Bathurst (7-31-0-1 W-OTW-OTL-SOL) to first-placed Rouyn-Noranda (32-7-0-1). Dobson was the captain of the Titan at the time of the trade.
Dobson, who just returned from the IIHF World Junior Hockey Championship has 16 points (9G, 7A) in 28 games this season.

WILDE NAMED OHL DEFENSEMAN OF THE MONTH:

Bode Wilde, the Islanders' 2018 second-round pick (41st overall), was named the Ontario Hockey League's Defenceman of the Month for December, the league announced on Jan. 2.
Wilde recorded 16 points (4G, 12A) in 10 games in December, tops among OHL blueliners. The defenseman notched a point in nine of 10 games in December, including five multi-point games.
Wilde's strong play has continued into 2019, as he has four points (1G, 3A) in his last three games. Overall, Wilde has 41 points (10G, 31A) in 33 games this season, which is tied for third among OHL defensemen.
