The New York Islanders are a couple days away from starting their season, but the Isles' prospects are already on the ice. The CHL prospects and Europeans are underway while the NCAA players get started this week. A few players - like Kieffer Bellows and Linus Soderstrom - are off to hot starts, so read more in the first Islanders Prospect Report of the season.
CHL:
The Canadian junior leagues started last week and the three Islanders' CHL prospects have hit the ground running. David Quenneville (Medicine Hat) and 2016 first-round pick (19th overall) Kieffer Bellows (Portland) are both playing the Western Hockey League, while 2017 Islanders sixth-round pick (165th overall) Arnaud Durandeau (Halifax) is playing with in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League.

Bellows, 19, made quite a splash in his WHL debut scoring two goals, adding an assist and earning first star honors, helping his Portland Winterhawks beat the Everett Silvertips 7-4 last Saturday in their regular season opener. The Edina, MN native added a helper in the Winterhawks 6-2 win over Seattle on Sept. 30. Bellows played last season with Boston University before committing to play in the WHL this season. He has totaled four points (2G, 2A) in his first three games, good for second on Portland.

Quenneville, 19, was returned to Medicine Hat Tigers on Sept. 22 and made his season debut on Sept. 23 where he recorded an assist in 4-0 win over Lethbridge. Quenneville has totaled four points (all assists) in three games, good for third in team scoring. Quenneville, who was selected by the Islanders in the seventh round (200th overall) in 2016 NHL Draft, recorded career-highs last season in goals (23) and points (59). The Edmonton, AB native will serve as an alternate captain for the Tigers this season.

Durandeau, 18, has recorded a point in each of his four games with the Halifax Mooseheads of the QMJHL. The Islanders' 2017 sixth-round pick has totaled five points (2G, 3A) in four games including the game-winning goal on Sept. 30 vs. Acadie-Bathurst. Like Quenneville and Bellows, Durandeau was returned to his junior team on Sept. 22. Durandeau was the youngest player on the Islanders 57-man camp roster.
EUROPE
The Islanders have four prospects that have opened play in their respective leagues in Europe.
Anatoli Golyshev, has posted seven points (5G, 2A) in 13 games with Avtomobilist Yekaterinburg of the Kontential Hockey League in Russia. Golyshev, 22, was the Islanders' 2016 fourth-round selection and is currently in his fifth KHL season.
Petter Hansson, the Islanders seventh-round selection in 2015 has appeared in four games with Sodertalje during his third season in the Allsvenskan, the second-highest Swedish professional league. Hansson, 21, is playing in his first season with Sodertalje after playing for Linkoping HC since 2012.
Otto Koivula, has recorded a pair of assists through 10 games with Ilves on the Finnish Elite League (Liiga). Koivula, 19, is coming off an outstanding rookie season that saw him post 30 points (10G, 20A) in 50 games last season. He took home the awards for most assists and points by a rookie en route to being named the Liiga Rookie of the Year. Koivula represented Finland at he 2017 World Junior Championships last year.
Robin Salo, has posted two assists in seven games during his fourth season with Sport of Finland's Liiga. Salo, 18, was the first selection by the Islanders (2nd round, 46th overall) at the 2017 Draft and one of three defenseman taken by New York is this year's draft. The Espoo, Finland native is coming off a career-year where he posted 16 points (1G, 15A) in 54 games with Sport.

Soderstrom, 21, is back between the pipes for defending Swedish Hockey League Champions, HV71. The Islanders' 2014 fourth-round selection picked up right where he left off, posting a 4-0-0 record with a 0.98 GAA, .960 SV% and two shutouts in his four games. Soderstrom is coming off his outstanding rookie campaign where backstopped the team to the 2017 championship, starting all 16 playoff games and posting a 12-4 record with a 2.11 goals-against average and a .922 save percentage in the playoffs. The Stockholm, Sweden native posted the best goals-against average in the league last season.
Ilya Sorokin, 22, is 5-3-2 with two shutouts through his first 10 games with CSKA of the KHL. Sorokin, is in his fifth season in the KHL and has recorded a 1.57 GAA with a .927 SV% so far this season. Last year, the Russian-born net minder was named to his second consecutive KHL All-Star Game.
NCAA
Four Islanders Prospects will play their 2017-18 season in the NCAA, which begins regular season play this week. Collin Adams (North Dakota), 2017 seventh-round pick Logan Cockerill(Boston University) and Nick Pastujov (Michigan) all saw action in their teams' exhibition games while 2017 third-round pick Ben Mirageas (Providence College) season will start on Oct. 6 at Miami Ohio.
Andong Song, New York's 2015 sixth-round pick will play for the Madison Capitals for the United States Hockey League this season. Song and the Capitals open the 2017 campaign on Oct. 6 vs. Des Moines.
