HOW IT WENT DOWN

Mark Stone evened the score with a power-play goal three minutes later and the teams entered the first intermission tied at 1-1. Stone scored again less than two minutes into the middle frame to give Vegas a 2-1 edge. Nicolas Roy added to the Vegas lead with a goal at 8:10 of the period, but the Lightning struck twice in the final three minutes of the period to tie the game at 3-3. Midway through the third, Steven Stamkos buried a power-play goal to give Tampa Bay its first lead of the night at 4-3. The Lightning held on to top the Golden Knights by a goal despite Vegas holding a 41-19 edge in shots.
