"During my time with the Flyers I have been able to see the amazing work the organization and Flyers Charities do to help families affected by cancer," said Konecny. "When we had the opportunity to choose an initiative to support this season, I wanted to make sure I could support this mission in any way possible. It was really fun to film this video with Travis and Brad to bring awareness to such an important cause."
"Before this season, we were proud to announce that every Flyers player would be paired with a community or charitable initiative, and all of our players, including Travis and Travis, have been fantastic in embracing that commitment," said Valerie Camillo, President & CEO of Spectacor Sports and Entertainment. "This program is a great example of what the Flyers organization is all about - using our platform and the passionate fanbase we've built over the decades to make a real difference in people's lives and, hopefully in this case, save lives through screenings and prostate cancer awareness."
Men over the age of 45 are encouraged to visit one of the upcoming events below to take the important step of screening for prostate cancer. The free service allows eligible participants to undergo a prostate-specific antigen blood draw, and a patient navigator will inform participants of the results and whether further diagnostic testing is needed. The navigator will then help a patient access a urologist if further evaluation is necessary.
Details on the Abramson Cancer Center mobile prostate screening events can be found online at PennMedicine.org/ProstateScreening and updates on locations and times can be found by following @PennCancer and @FlyersCharities on Twitter. Find information on the three confirmed upcoming events below. The final two event dates will be announced at a later date.
