MORNING SKATE RECAP

NEWARK, N.J. - The Devils will not hold a morning skate due to the time of game. However, head coach Sheldon Keefe will meet with the media around 1:15 p.m. ET. Check back around then for his comments and insight ahead of the game.

THE SCOOP

After opening the season with a 3-2 overtime win against Philadelphia, the Devils suffered back-to-back losses on Long Island and at home against Utah. The group is looking for a bounce back game against Vancouver.

The Devils lost defenseman Jonas Siegenthaler to injury during the game against the Mammoth. He hasn't been ruled out for Saturday's game. If he can't go, Johnathan Kovacevic would likely slide back into the lineup. He has missed all of training camp and the opening of the season with a knee injury, but has been practicing all week with the team.

Judging from practice, Kovacevic would play the right side with Brenden Dillon on the left. Meanwhile, Declan Chisholm will move back to the left side and work with RD Dougie Hamilton.

After a brief juggling on lines against the Mammoth, the Devils are reverting back to their previous forward groupings.

The Canucks are in the beginnings of a six-game East Coast swing. They opened in Carolina Thursday night, losing 7-2, with the Devils up next. They'll finish with NY Rangers, NY Islanders, Florida and Tampa Bay.

Vancouver opened the year with a wild home-and-home against Edmonton. They began the season with a 6-5 overtime win in Edmonton and followed that with a 9-7 loss at home to the Oilers.

Former Devil Paul Cotter has the hot hand for the Canucks with four goals in four games to start the season. He also has six points. That tied for team lead with Elias Pettersson.
