The Devils return home to face the Buffalo Sabres on Tuesday. You can watch on MSG+ and listen on the Devils Hockey Network,

Game time is 7:08 PM ET.
Down 4-1 entering the third period, the Devils had a power play chance early in the frame but did not convert. They did use that momentum to begin to wear down the Capitals defense, setting the stage for what was to come.
Just over five minutes into the stanza, Miles Wood on a two-on-one took a backhand pass from Jesper Bratt and fired it high short side on Vanecek to make it a two-goal game.
"We went in after the second, just talked about scoring a goal in the first five minutes, getting back in the game," said Devils head coach Lindy Ruff. "I really felt that we had an opportunity. The game got away from us a little in the second. We had a costly turnover. We lost coverage on the fourth goal. There was some things I liked. I thought we had some guys who were skating while I just thought if we applied a little bit more pressure to them, we would have an opportunitiy to get back in the game."
Washington went back to the box as Nick Jensen took a tripping penalty. Caps were again able to kill that off but Devils kept pushing and 90 seconds after the man advantage expired, Yegor Sharangovich rifled a shot from the hashmarks over the glove of Vanecek, making it a one-goal game with 9:43 to go in the first.
Two minute after that, Damon Severson's shot from the point found its way to the back of the net, tying the game and completing the comeback for the Devils with the game tied 4-4.
Ninety seconds into overtime, Jakub Vrana got in behind the Devils defense and roofed the puck for the win.
"I love their fight," said Ruff. "One heck of a point. And if you look at the chances in the third period, even when we made it 4-4, Kulikov hit the post with another great opportunity. We controlled the puck through overtime and just turned it over there.
"In three-on-three (overtime), that happens."
Wood was called for slashing eight minutes into the game to give the Capitals the game's first power play. After killing off the penalty, the Devils had a power play of their own when Daniel Sprong received two minutes for tripping but were unable to capitalize.
Janne Kuokkanen got called for holding the stick to put the Caps back on the power play with 4:25 to go in the first.
With 13 seconds to go in the man advantage, Justin Schultz blasted a shot from the point that was tipped by T.J. Oshie on its way to the net behind Wedgewood to put the Caps on the board.
After one, shots on goal were 12-9 for the Capitals.

P.K. Subban was called for high-sticking and Lars Eller for cross-checking setting up a four-on-four situation. The Caps doubled their lead with a couple of seconds to go in the four-on-four as Jakub Vrana finished a nice feed from John Carlson to tie the game.
Caps made it 3-0 when Sprong wristed a shot from the left circle short side on the rush.
Shots on goal were 19-11 for Washington just past the period's midway point; 8-2 in the middle frame.
With 7:16 to go in the second, Travis Zajac took advantage of some confusion behind the Washington net, muscling Backstrom off the puck and then feeding Janne Kuokkanen in front. Kuokkanen quickly fired the puck in as Caps goaltender Vitek Vanecek tried to scramble back in position after getting caught behind the goal.
But just over two minutes later, Dmitry Orlov wristed a laser from the top of the right circle over the right shoulder of Wedgewood to put the Capitals back up by three.
After two, shots were 24-15 for Washington.
