New Jersey picked goaltender Nicolas Daws 84th overall in the 2020 NHL Draft. Daws played for Guelph in the Ontario Hockey League over the last three seasons and posted 23-8-6 record in 2019-20. This year Daws led all OHL Goaltender in save percentage (.924) and shutouts (5).
Due to his strong performance, Daws was the inaugural recipient of the Jim Rutherford Trophy, an honor award to the OHL's Goaltender of the Year. To top off his accomplishments, Daws was named an OHL First Team All-Star following the end of the 2019-20 season.
