The panel will start at 5:30 PM and will be led by New Jersey Devils All-Access Host and Digital Reporter Amanda Stein. It will feature Kim B. Davis, Executive Vice President, Social Impact, Growth Initiatives & Legislative Affairs, from the National Hockey League, as well as Dr. Aimee Kimball, PhD, CMPC, Director of Player and Team Development for the New Jersey and Binghamton Devils.
Davis joined the NHL at her current role in December 2017 where she leads the League's efforts to increase fandom, value creation and growth through increased youth participation, social impact and outreach to new and underrepresented audiences in the sport.
"Kim's professional experience uniquely qualifies her to ensure that our League is growing the game of hockey by demonstrating the leadership principles and values in communities and with all stakeholders that can ultimately lead to new and increased fandom," said NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman.
Davis' previous role was as a Senior Managing Director at the leading CEO-advisory firm Teneo. There, she built and ran the firm's Corporate Responsibility and Inclusive Leadership practice, where she advised CEOs and Fortune 500 companies. One of the highlights of her four years at Teneo was advising the legendary tennis icon Billie Jean King on the creation of the Billie Jean King Leadership Initiative - a partnership with CEOs to advance gender diversity and pay equity in Fortune 500 companies.
Prior to Teneo, Ms. Davis enjoyed a 20-plus year career at JPMorgan Chase where she most recently served as Managing Director of Global Corporate Social Responsibility, President of the JPMorgan Chase Foundation (fifth-largest corporate foundation in the world) and a member of the firm's Executive Committee. Her responsibilities included leading and managing approximately $300 million in annual giving, employee and civic engagement, and corporate sponsorship programs. During her JPMC career she was involved in many of the company's major strategic and operational decisions, specifically regarding culture change, leadership and talent management.
The panel will also feature Dr. Kimball, who has a PhD specializing in Sport. Dr. Kimball works with professional, collegiate, and high school athletes in a variety of sports. With the New Jersey and Binghamton Devils, she helps the players develop a successful mentality and the teams develop a championship culture. She works closely with the coaches as well as the development and scouting staffs.
Previously, Dr. Kimball was the Pittsburgh Penguins' Mental Training Consultant for a decade and was part of both the 2009 and 2016 Stanley Cup championships. She has also served as the mental training consultant for Duquesne University, Saint Francis University, and Sewickley Academy and has previously assisted the Pittsburgh Steelers in analyzing potential draft picks. Since 2004, Dr. Kimball has worked with over 40 high schools, 11 colleges, and 6 professional sports teams.
Dr. Kimball has worked with large and small corporations to help develop a culture of success, transition through mergers, and identify a plan for accomplishing company goals. She has worked with the pharmaceutical industry, investment banking firms, construction companies, banks, and several executive groups such as YPO. She also has inside knowledge of family businesses and the challenges faced in this unique environment.
Before her current role, Dr. Kimball spent 9 years as the Director of Mental Training at UPMC Center for Sports Medicine. She received a PhD from the University of Tennessee where she specialized in sport psychology, a Masters in Sports Behavior and Performance from Miami University (Ohio) and an undergraduate psychology degree from the Pennsylvania State University. She worked in the athletic departments at both Tennessee and Miami where she assisted with life skills development of student-athletes. She is an Association of Applied Sport Psychology Certified Consultant (CMPC), and is a member of the American Psychological Association, the United States Olympic Committee's Sport Psychology Registry, and the USA Swimming Sports Medicine Network.
