Matt Tennyson, Matt Hellickson and the United States lost to Canada in the IIHF World Championship semifinal round, and will play in the consolation game Sunday against Germany.

The United States' dream of winning IIHF World Championship gold for the first time since 1933 was squashed in a 4-2 loss to Canada in the semifinal showdown Saturday.
Canada, which advances to the gold medal game against Finland Sunday, received two goals from Andrew Mangiapane and 36 saves from goaltender Darcy Kuemper.
Devils defenseman and American Matt Tennyson finished the game with a minus-1 in 21:28 minutes of ice time. Fellow Devil Matt Hellickson had one shot and a plus-1 in 16:30 minutes.
Canada's Owen Power, a project Top-5 pick in the 2021 NHL Draft, had one shot in an eye-popping 27:51 minutes, playing nearly half of the game.
FINLAND 2, GERMANY 1
Finland scored two first-period goals and it was enough to hold on for a 2-1 victory against Germany in the IIHF World Championship semifinal Saturday to advance to the gold medal game.
Iiro Pakarinen and Hannes Bjorninen scored for Finland, while Jussi Olkinuora made 18 saves. Matthias Plachta had the lone tally for Germany.
