The 2021 IIHF World Championship continued Saturday with four Devils players in action to open the tournament for their respective countries.
SWITZERLAND 5, CZECH REPUBLIC 2
Switzerland: Nico Hischier, Jonas Siegenthaler
Devils captain Nico Hischier picked up an assist and one shot in 19:15 minutes of ice time for Switzerland in its 5-2 victory against Czech Republic Saturday.

Hischier assisted on Timo Meier's second-period goal to give the Swiss a 2-1 lead at the time. Fellow Devil defenseman Jonas Siegenthaler recorded one shot in 9:57 minutes of ice.
Czech Republic opened the scoring late in the first period on Filip Chytil's goal at 14:46. The Swiss answered less than three minutes later to even the score, 1-1. Switzerland would build a 4-1 lead en route to the win.
FINLAND 2, USA 1
USA: Matt Tennyson, Matt Hellickson
Finland defeated the United States, 2-1, Saturday in the opening game of the tournament for both clubs.
Devils defenseman Matt Tennyson recorded a shot in 15:21 minutes of ice time. Devils prospect Matt Hellickson skated in 13:25 minutes.
All the game's goals were scored in the second period. Finland took a 2-0 lead and held on for the win.
