BROSSARD -- The Canadiens were back at the Bell Sports Complex for the first time since Feb. 27 on Thursday, taking part in a morning skate ahead of facing the visiting Pittsburgh Penguins.

Carey Price notably took part in a first team practice since suffering a concussion in Philadelphia on Feb. 20, and was on the ice taking shots from his teammates.
The 30-year-old netminder will not be in uniform opposite the Pens, however.

"Carey Price won't be the backup tonight. It was his first practice with the team today, but it's only a step towards his return," underlined head coach Claude Julien. "He worked hard during a day off yesterday, and he came to work again today. He wanted to skate with the guys because it was a quick pregame skate. If everything goes well, he'll be back for a full practice tomorrow."
Julien likewise provided a medical update on forward Andrew Shaw during his pregame press conference.
"[Shaw] is at home, feeling much better, and that's good news," continued the Habs bench boss. "He's feeling better than we anticipated, but he's still being evaluated on a daily basis, and he's in contact with our medical group."
Shaw took a hit to the head during the third period of Tuesday's game against Dallas, and needed help getting off the ice.
"To see him leave the game that way was tough," admitted forward Charles Hudon. "He's someone who brings a lot of atmosphere to the dressing room, and a lot of dynamism to the ice."

In Shaw's absence, forward Michael McCarron was called up from the AHL's Laval Rocket on Wednesday, but will not face the defending Stanley Cup champs on Thursday.
"McCarron won't play tonight. He played last night [against the Toronto Marlies], and traveled to Montreal this morning," explained Julien. "He may get some game action, but not tonight."
Filling in for Shaw at practice was Daniel Carr, who should be back in the lineup after sitting out Tuesday's game against the Stars.
Antti Niemi meanwhile is slated to get the start in goal once again.
Game time is scheduled for 7:30 p.m., and will be broadcast on TSN2, RDS, TSN690, and 98,5 fm in Canada.
