MONTREAL - Zacary St-Pierre firmly set his sights on becoming a flag bearer at the Bell Centre this past November.

The Repentigny native was celebrating his sixth birthday by attending his very first Canadiens game, and he was instantly mesmerized by the youngsters taking part in the pre-game tradition.
So when his mother, Vanessa Roy, informed him that he won the Rise Together sweepstakes' "Be Part of the Team" experience, St-Pierre was understandably overwhelmed.
"He started crying and he jumped in my arms. He couldn't believe it," said Roy, of the moment she revealed the news. "I was emotional, too. I didn't tell him that I registered for the contest. I didn't want him to be disappointed if he wasn't chosen, but I was really happy for him when we got the phone call."
What awaits Zacary at some point down the road is a unique opportunity to gear up and carry the Canadiens flag onto the ice just moments before the team emerges ahead of puck drop.
Standing alongside the rinkboards as the Habs appear before the crowd, he'll collect countless fist bumps and stick taps from his hockey heroes, including Carey Price and Jonathan Drouin.

And Roy will be in the stands savoring every single second of it because the prize also includes four Red-level tickets as well.
"I know I'm going to be very excited that day. It's Zacary's dream to play in the NHL, and he really believes this is where that dream begins," explained Roy. "Being chosen to skate on the ice with the Canadiens is like being drafted by them. It's fun to see him believe in something like that."
Roy is confident that her son will perform his flag bearer duties to perfection.
He has plenty of time to work on his skating leading up the occasion, of course.
"I have no doubt he'll be good. He'll gain confidence with practice. He's already a good skater, too. I think he'll try and skate fast to impress the fans," mentioned Roy with a laugh. "He's very athletic. He's always active. Zacary does a lot of rollerblading, and he works on his game in the yard. He really loves it."
There's no denying this Canadiens Fan Club member's genuine passion for the CH.
The kindergarten student makes a point of watching every game.
"Zacary records all of them because he always misses the last two periods. He usually has to go to bed around that time," said Roy. "But he watches the games the next morning. He doesn't miss a thing."
Participating in the Rise Together campaign clearly paid off for Zacary, and you can be a winner, too!
