MONTREAL - It is with great sadness that the Montreal Canadiens organization learned of the passing of Mr. Elmer Benning yesterday, December 27, at the age of 77, in Edmonton.
A member of the Canadiens' amateur scouting department for the past 48 years, Mr. Benning was a loyal and devoted hockey man, and an individual extremely respected by his colleagues across the hockey world. The Montreal Canadiens wish to extend their deepest condolences to the family of Mr. Benning. You will be missed, Elmer.
