BOSTON -The Boston Bruins announced today, May 10, the launch of the Diversity and Inclusion Scouting Mentorship Program. The program aims to mentor and elevate individuals from underrepresented backgrounds to strengthen their pursuit of a career in scouting or the hockey industry at large.

The Bruins' Diversity and Inclusion Scouting Mentorship Program will provide an opportunity to individuals who have a desire to work in the NHL scouting and hockey operations community, but lack either the access or technical skills to do so. The program will pair the participants with a mentor from the Bruins' Hockey Operations Department for a nine-month period from September 2021 to May 2022. Engaging remotely, the mentees will break down film, participate in monthly virtual study sessions with their mentors and gather for group workshops with fellow program participants and Bruins hockey operations staff. Through hands-on experience, mentorship and networking opportunities, the program will help empower the mentees and diversify the pool of candidates for future scouting and hockey operations positions.
"The Boston Bruins are very proud to announce the Diversity and Inclusion Scouting Mentorship Program," said Bruins President Cam Neely. "Our Hockey Operations group, Evan Gold andJeremy Rogalski in particular, have done a tremendous job putting together a comprehensive program that we feel will provide tangible value and access to individuals who otherwise might not have the opportunity. We are very excited to begin this process and meet some of the individuals who could be part of the next wave of the hockey scouting community."
"The mentorship program is a creative initiative from our Hockey Operations department that the Bruins Organization fully supports," said Bruins General Manager Don Sweeney. "The program is an outreach that aligns with the ideals that we as an organization aspire to, to help create future leaders in the sport of hockey from more diverse backgrounds. The Hockey Operations staff in totality will be actively participating as mentors and we are all excited to meet, teach and learn from each participant."
"The Bruins Diversity and Inclusion Scouting Mentorship Program will make exciting contributions to hockey's future by empowering underrepresented groups to bring their talent and skills to our sport," said Kim Davis, NHL Senior Executive Vice President of Social Impact, Growth, and Legislative Affairs. "We are proud to see the Bruins launch this initiative, which adds momentum to the movement for inclusion across the entire NHL - from the ice to the stands to the front office."
